I was referred to Dr. Newton by my Cardiologist for possible sleep apnea. Due to Dr. Newton's schedule, I was not able to schedule an appointment for several months with him. Instead, to get a reasonably timed appointment, I had to schedule with the Nurse Practicioner, Denise. She was very pleasant and had me to do a sleep test. The results of the test revealed that I had SEVERE sleep apnea, and needed a CPAP machine asap. Unfamiliar with the procedure, I asked Denise the procedure for obtaining one. She said "they" would send a prescription into a DME company, and I should hear from the DME company "in a couple of days". Well, I waited a week and still heard nothing. I called Dr. Newton's office the following week, and was told "he was very busy, and hadn't had time to sign my prescription". I asked how long it took for him to sign a prescription, and was told by Ashley that he was very busy, and that he only worked half days Monday thru Thursday, and not at all on Friday. Ashley promised to talk to the Dr. about my prescription. Another week went by and still nothing from the DME. I called and spoke to Ashley again and she again said she would speak to Dr. Newton. Still ANOTHER week went by and I still heard nothing from the DME. Extremely frustrated, I called my Cardiologist that referred me to Dr. Newton. I told his office staff my frustration and they promised to speak to the Cardiologist about what had happened. Approximately 30 minutes after my call to my referring Cardiologist, I finally received a call from the DME company. I asked them when the prescription had been called in, and they said about 5 minutes prior to their call to me.
I just had a follow up appointment with my Cardiologist this past week and spoke to him directly about the matter. He stated that he had received a call from Dr. Newton, after his call to his office. He stated that during his call, Dr. Newton was extremely appologetic to him for the apparent oversight, or what ever else had caused the problem. Although I thought this a nice gesture by Dr. Newton, given what had happend to me, I asked my Cardiologist why I never received a similar apologetic call from Dr. Newton, as I was the one who suffered because of his failure to sign a prescription in more than three weeks time.
My Cardiologist asked if I wanted him to refer me to another Pulminologist. I told him not yet, as I had an appointment with Dr. Newton the following week. In fact, when making the appointment, his office staff tried to schedule me with Denise, the Nurse Practioner, once again. I INSISTED that I see Dr. Newton, first of all to finally meet him after 4 visits to his office, and also to give him the opportunity to explain why it took him over three weeks to sign my prescription. Where I go from here with him depends upon how he explains his apparent lack of professionalism and care.

Dr Newton is the best doctor i have ever had.i am 87 and since I have beenin the Tampa area, Dr Newton out rates any Dr.!

Dr. Newton is a very knowledgeable and professional physician as well as being cordial and approachable. He apologized for the long wait and took his time answering all my questions and concerns. His office staff is also very good. I would recommend him highly to anyone looking for a pulmonologist.

Love the way Dr. Newton treated our questions, health concerns and medications. Love also the ladies at the front desks checking in and out. The nurses and assistants are approachable .

The only pulmonologist I would go to or recommend. The staff is always kind and helpful. Dr Newton is not only knowledgeable, he is concerned about patients and takes the time to listen and explain.

My wife and I both have had excellent care from Dr. Newton. My wife has some lung issues and he has always went out of his way to make sure she was taken care of.

Very pleasant office staff. The techs I met were very professional and kind. And Dr Newton made me feel so comfortable and addressed all my concerns. I would highly recommend the Medical practice for all pulmonary and sleep issues.

Dr Newton has been treating my family members for many years. I recently had a need to seek out his expertise and found him and his staff to be gracious, compassionate and thorough in his examination of me and his subsequent medical care. His is a very busy practice which says a lot about him and his patients trust in him. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone needing a pulmonary and/or sleep specialist.

I would recommend Dr. Newton to everyone. He is caring and kind and never rushes my appointment. His staff are an amazing group of people that makes you feel heard. Dealing with a chronic illness is scary sometimes but Dr. Newton and his staff makes it bearable.
